About our data providers

Data in the Atlas of Living Australia (Atlas) is provided by a wide range of organisations, websites, individuals, community groups, government departments and information systems.

The Atlas is also working closely with our data providers to assist them to better capture, manage, and provide data to the Atlas.

Support for information systems

Much of the information on Australia’s biodiversity resides in overseas information systems, like BOLD and the Biodiversity Heritage Library. To provide a local capacity to store and manage such data, the Atlas is cooperating with the developers of selected information systems to establish Australian nodes of these systems. These local nodes will also be used to store new content created in Australia.

Also, the Atlas is supporting the development or adoption by natural history collections of other information systems that capture and manage biodiversity data.

See Systems supported by the Atlas for information on the information systems supported by the Atlas.
