Australian Museum

The Australian Museum (http://www.australianmuseum.net.au/) is making a range of species information and data from its natural history collections available through the Atlas of Living Australia.

Contribution to the ALA

During 2007-2008 the Australian Museum will be developing a range of content for the Atlas, including:

  • Species fact sheets, images and videos
  • Specimen data from the museum's Invertebrates, Arachnology, Entomology, Herpetology, Mammalogy and Ornithology collections

The Australian Museum has worked with Rio Tinto to develop BioMaps (http://www.biomaps.net.au/biomaps/), a set of tools for accessing, mapping and analysing Australian biodiversity data. The ALA is exploring ways to collaborate with the Australian Museum and with Rio Tinto to further this work within the framework of the Atlas.
