A workshop was held in Canberra in early December 2009 to provide advice to the ALA on the toolkit. The report can be found here. Attending the workshop were Jane Elith (University of Melbourne), Leon Barmuta (University of Tasmania), Simon Ferrier (CSIRO Entomology), Glenn De’ath (Australian Institute of Marine Science), Dan Faith (Australian Museum), Jeff Tranter (ERIN), Jeremy VanDerWal (Centre for Tropical Biodiversity & Climate Change Research, Townsville), Michael Bode (AEDA, University of Melbourne), Piers Dunstan (CSIRO Marine & Atmospheric Research), Paul Flemons (Australian Museum), Ben Raymond (Australian Antarctic Division), Lee Belbin (ALA Team Geospatial Leader) and Peter Brenton (ALA Business Analyst).
A second meeting is planned in the first quarter of 2010 to identify and prioritise what environmental layers are needed to support the toolkit and to provide context for the ALA’s biological data. A discussion group comprised of data generators and users was initiated in February. This group has outlined the type of information needed, the people that should be involved and the outcomes required from the meeting.
