The ALA is developing core systems and services needed for managing biodiversity information.  These services will provide the foundation for future developments, including collaborative development of portals to support specific user groups.

The diagram provides an overview of the key components to be delivered as part of this core.  Data resources are represented in blue.  Components which the ALA expects to develop using NCRIS funds are represented in green.

The ALA is undertaking a User Needs Analysis to gain a better understanding of the full range of user applications which should be supported and to prioritise their development.
